Race 1 No. 8 GOTTABESAVVY- ($2.25)

GOTTABESAVVY should find this easier than a last start effort that saw him finish last in the Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) behind Berkeley Square on Cox Plate day. He was never really in it against the top liners but was good at Moe prior to that when an unlucky runner-up over the 1600m as connections fired off an unsuccessful protest. He was placed at his only other career run. The Busuttin & Young galloper gets his chance.

Race 3 No. 3 CHARGENLIKAPLUMA- ($5)

CHARGENLIKAPLUMA can chalk up the first win of his career when he steps out in Race 3. The Robbie Griffiths and Matthew de Kock-trained galloper battled in his initial preparation but has come back in reasonable order this time around, finishing runner-up at his two starts. He landed on the speed on the Heavy 9 at Moe when resuming and going down to Impressive Enuff before again producing a similar effort when going down on the Ballarat Synthetic. He comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and should be nearing his peak.

Race 7 No. 7 PEINTRE’S PRIDE- ($6.50)

PEINTRE’S PRIDE can make it two wins from as many career starts when she steps out in Race 7. The three-year-old defeated just three rivals when stepping out in a small field at Moe on debut back on October 14 on a Heavy 10 track, cutting corners on the rail to defeat Lacemaker. She went 2.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race, which are the best last start figures of any runner. The daughter of Magnus draws wide this time around but has attracted a bit of support in the early betting and with any improvement off her debut she is right in this.
