Race 5 No. 4 PENMAN– ($2.50)

PENMAN should be hard to beat in Race 5 at Moe. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper made his debut at Cranbourne over the 1000m on October 21 and settled handy to the speed and swinging out as they cornered but he couldn’t quite reel in the winner, McTaggart, despite producing the fastest last 200m. That should hold the son of Written Tycoon in good stead for this race and with improvement to come he can get the job done here.

Race 6 No. 10 PEINTRE’S PRIDE- ($)

PEINTRE’S PRIDE might be worth sticking with in Race 6. The three-year-old has had the one career run for a win at Moe on Heavy going back on October 14 and heads to a BenchMark 58. At her debut, she lined up in a field of just four runners before exerting authority at the business end to defeat Lacemaker and Major Key, who has since come out and won at Pakenham. The daughter of Magnus went 2.2 lengths slower than standard, which is the second best last start figure of any runner. Any improvement off that at her second start and she should be fighting out the finish.
