Race 1 No. 8 FLYING TEMPTRESS- ($2.05)

FLYING TEMPTRESS should be hard to beat in the opening event of the evening at Moonee Valley. The Clinton McDonald filly has had the one career start with that coming at the track and trip on November 11. She settled just behind the leaders in that race and was held up from the turn until the 200m before producing the fastest last 200m to land a neck behind Aoraki Summit. The 4th placegetter out of that has gone on to win at Ararat and she went 1.5 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than 10 lengths better than what any horse in this race has produced. Unless one of the three debutants can pull off a big run, this looks to be her race.

Race 2 No. 2 CORNER OFF- ($2.70)

CORNER OFF has made a solid start to her career and is a fraction unlucky not to be unbeaten after three runs. The Archie Alexander-trained galloper dominated her rivals on the Pakenham Synthetic when resuming on October 28 before heading to a midweek race at Sandown recently in a BenchMark 64, finishing a narrow runner-up behind Midtown Boss. She was held up for a period of time before producing the fastest last 200m. Look for her to settle outside the leader here and with better luck in the run she can bounce back.

Race 7 No. 4 FREEDOM ESCAPE- ($8)

FREEDOM ESCAPE can go close in Race 7 of the evening at Moonee Valley. The four-year-old from the Paul Preusker yard has had just the one run this preparation, finishing runner-up at Sandown on November 16 over the 1400m. On that occasion, he settled last in the small field and loomed up strongly at the 200m before slightly peaking on his run, finishing within a length of Suparazi. He was an improver at his last preparation with racing, building up to a win and a strong performance at Flemington. With the fitness in the tank, the son of Hallowed Crown can go one better.
