Race 1 No. 1 CHOQUANT – ($3.90)

This shapes as an interesting one with the likes of CHOQUANT and Yasuke in action. The latter looked good on debut when overcoming a wide run but keen on Choquant after he broke the maiden at Cranbourne on January 13 over the 1600m. The Mick Kent-trained galloper led at a fast tempo but was good enough to kick clear around the corner and win unchallenged from Naval Destroyer, while there was a solid gap back to 3rd. He has plenty of options from barrier 2 and can lead or box seat. The son of Shocking has been the firmer since markets opened and will be ridden by Ethan Brown, who is striking at 26% at his last 100 rides, providing a 31% profit on investment for punters.

Race 7 No. 4 FOREST DIAMOND – ($13)

Keen on FOREST DIAMOND at the each-way quote in Race 7. The four-year-old was excellent at her last preparation, winning a few on the trot and finishing 3rd in a $130,000 race at Caulfield before just tapering off at her last run. She looks to have come back in good order and was doing her best work late at her second run this time in when closing off steadily for 3rd over the 1600m at Sandown on January 18. The step up to the 2040m looks ideal and she should enjoy a nice run in transit from barrier 4.
