Race 2 No. 2 MUGEN- ($2.40)

Bit wary of the first starters in action but MUGEN should be hard to beat in Race 2. The Clinton McDonald-trained galloper stepped out for his debut at Sandown on November 23 over the 1200m and settled handy before going for home at the 200m and missing out in a head-bobber behind Zouthur. Form out of that race has held up with two winners coming out of it, while Mugen went 2.1 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Look for him to settle near the lead and be hard to hold out at the business end.

Race 4 No. 1 SO UNUSUAL- ($3.20)

SO UNUSUAL can get the job done in Race 4. The promising four-year-old has had two runs this time in and had a couple of excuses when resuming with a 6th at Pakenham on November 10 over the 1600m before heading to the 1800m at Sandown and finishing runner-up behind Rick’s Cafe. He settled handy that day and chased well. Step up to the 2040m looks ideal and this might be easier.

Race 7 No. 10 AMINATU- ($8)

Best Value comes up in Race 7 and AMINATU is worth thought at the each-way quote. The five-year-old has been around the mark in all of her runs this prep and comes off a 4th behind the impressive Red Card at the track and trip on November 11. Her peak figure at her last preparation came at this stage when a narrow runner-up over the 955. The daughter of Danerich might settle closer this time around from barrier 2 and the 2kg claim for Madi Lloyd gets her down to a winnable weight.
