Moonee Valley Tips 18/11/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 5 COTEL- ($3.50)

Keen on COTEL in Race 4. The Peter Moody-trained galloper resumes from a one-start campaign that saw her impress on debut with a win in a Saturday race at Caulfield back in winter ahead of Jukebox Flyer. She led all the way to score by nearly two lengths. Form out of that race has been a bit iffy but she did go more than eight lengths faster than standard benchmark and should be suited at the Valley. Look for her to hold the lead from barrier 2 and as long as they don’t go too hard in the early and middle stages, she can make it two from two.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 6 CHANDON BURJ- ($4.20)

The opener at the Valley is a BenchMark 70 for the mares and CHANDON BURJ can go one spot better than a last start effort that saw her finish runner-up behind Matron Bullwinkel over the 1700m on Oaks Day at Flemington. The Busuttin/Young galloper camped on the speed that day and headed for home at the 300m before sticking on to finish half a length away. The daughter of Pride Of Dubai comes in with the best last start benchmark figure of any runner and at her last campaign she improved seven lengths when scoring at Pakenham when third up. Look for her to settle handy and be strong at the business end with Damien Oliver to ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 4 VEGAS KNIGHT- ($3.20)

We step out over the Cox Plate distance in Race 6 and VEGAS KNIGHT can break a 78-week drought. The Nick Ryan-trained galloper has been edging closer this time around in easier races. He stuck on well for 4th when second up at Mornington before heading to Moonee Valley and running 3rd behind Florida Dream last Friday over the 1600m. The six-year-old gets out in trip and generally performs well fourth up, while form at the Valley is solid.
