Race 2 No. 1 LE JOKE- ($3.20)

LE JOKE has been knocking on the door and can break through for the first time in Race 2. The four-year-old was luckless over the 1000m two starts ago at Tatura before heading to the Mornington 1200m and finishing runner-up behind And She Was. He settled midfield in the December 2 affair before running onto go 2.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is more than six lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner and more than three lengths better than the class average. The son of Headwater draws barrier 5 and looks ready.

Race 4 No. 5 DREAM OF MINE- ($5.50)

DREAM OF MINE is another that can strike for the first time at Mornington. The five-year-old has had two career runs and has placed on both occasions, with those coming at Mornington over the 1000m. Made a few mistakes when overacing last time but chased gamely to grab 3rd behind Bazinga Bazinga. She draws wide for this assignment and just needs to find a spot in the early stages.

Race 5 No. 9 BRILLIANT MELODY- ($5)

This sets up well for BRILLIANT MELODY. The Maher/Eustace galloper claimed her maiden at Murtoa two starts ago before jumping straight to a BenchMark 64 and running 6th to Midtown Boss The daughter of Jukebox went too hard early on before fading late. She has been well supported in early betting and this looks much easier. With a bit more of a friendly tempo up front, she can get the job done here with Ben Allen on board.
