Morphettville Tips 3/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 6 PHILONIZE – ($1.85)

Perennial #SABlackbookers horse PHILONIZE resumes following two promising trials in town. She was away sharply as always in the first of which and controlled the front running early. Ben Price asked of her a little as Behemoth and Beau Rossa claimed her late. The former did have the benefit of race fitness under his belt too. Ran the fastest heat of a good set of trials here with her most recent hit out. Jumped straight to the front before quickening under her own steam by the 350m. Comfortably held the likes of Beau Rossa and Kemalpasa to the line. Won well for us first-up and we’re happy to stick as the market catches on second-up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 2 MY KHALIFA – ($2.40)

We seem to have run out of things to write about #SABlackbookers horse MY KHALIFA. We even tried to fill this space last time writing about the short let-up of his rider Todd Pannell. The class keeps rising as does the weight My Khalifa needs to carry and yet he just keeps getting the job done. A clash with Montign someday could just about be the biggest match race in SA since Nature Strip versus Sunlight. Anyway, My Khalifa is gunning for four straight wins at this track, with his latest two also being run over this distance.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 2 SPIN THE REWARD – ($8.50)

Underrated galloper SPIN THE REWARD usually takes a couple of runs to find his best. Trainer Peter Hardacre has kept his races well-spaced following an unbelievable trial win at Balaklava back in September. His first-up run under apprentice Logan McNeil was just a run along the inferior inside section of the Morphettville 1100m. Young Ellis Wong found some improvement on Spin The Reward second-up as he pulled the widest into the straight to make ground over 1200m. Has to negotiate the tighter Parks track for the first time while overcoming what looks like a soft pace map. Senior rider Ryan Hurdle rejoins the team as Hardacre believes Spin The Reward is ready to improve on Saturday.
