Race 9 No. 4 OUTPOST – ($8.50)

#SABlackbookers horse OUTPOST drops even further in grade as Jason Cannon sends him out over his favoured six-furlong distance. Already a four-time winner over the track and trip, Outpost gets in well at BM64 grade with the 3 kg claim for Alana Livesey. She’s riding really well right now and her first metro win is right around the corner. Outpost found himself getting a little too far back as the pressure went on over 1100 metres last start. Jason Holder attempted to stoke him up in the inferior inner section of the track as the bird had flown into the straight. Put a line through that run even though Outpost finished amongst the placings. Far better suited here drawn out where Livesey can get off and rolling to the middle part of the track.

Race 5 No. 1 PONTEDERA – ($9)

Lakewood master Michael Hickmott opts for the claim of young gun Ben Price for impressive last start winner PONTEDERA. Jake Toeroek has been recalled to the Richard & Chantelle Jolly to partner Who’s Clang after giving Pontedera a treat to score in town last start. The claim will suit the Hickmott galloper as it is, and Price can repeat the dose from the handy draw. Jake settled the horse midfield just off the hot speed before commencing a run between horses into the straight. Pontedera was impressive to the line on the tighter Parks track and the feeling here is he can improve further still on this outer track.

Race 2 No. 7 WILD WILLY – ($11)

Up in class while down in weight is not necessarily the mix, we would look for in horse such as WILD WILLY. Doesn’t hurt to see him get down towards the minimum though as he has lumped some serious lead since resuming this prep. Lee Creek has steadily increased the miles in this horse’s legs and Wild Willy should be ready to peak after three runs back. Latest of which saw him concede both weight and a margin to Wild Imagination who looked a good thing on paper over the mile here a fortnight ago. Jacob Opperman produced Wild Willy out to the preferred middle part of the track where he finished off resolutely behind the mare. Meets her far better at the weights and can settle much closer on Saturday.
