Morphettville Tips 16/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 8 HALF A DRAM – ($4)

Friday twilight meeting on firm surface with currently predicted strong South-Easterly breezes suggest it will be a case of lead out of the chute races and win. This leads us to wanting to get off to a good start to the afternoon and we can do that with the Matt Seyers trained HALF A DRAM. His first starter has impressed at the jump outs leading with her head on her chest to score comfortably over 600 metres on the fibre track. Since pinged the lids at Strathalbyn to lead all the way during her 1000 metre trial at Strathalbyn. Half A Dram wanted to do a few things wrong late and can improve further with experienced rider Jess Eaton retaining the mount for race day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 3 TEQUILA SUNSET – ($6)

We really want to exploit that strong South-Easterly and are expecting TEQUILA SUNSET to ping straight to the front in the next. The pace maps get a little murkier as the day goes on where there seems to be a clump of horses who could go forward. While there’s three in particular who will want to race on speed here, Tequila Sunset has been well-placed. This Class two race rates as a benchmark 62 without the depth of the field Tequila Sunset accounted for recently at Gawler. Should expect both Midnight Rush and Opal Beach to also want to race handily, just believe they’ll be encouraged to drop the bit early.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 No. 8 MAGIC DELTA – ($18)

Paula Trenwith has opted for the claim of Jade Doyle while applying a crossover Noseband to MAGIC DELTA. We do not have a trial or jump out to go on so will take on trust while understanding that this horse will likely improve into her prep. Generally shows speed early in her races and ran well first-up over 1100 metres at Gawler last time in. Doyle should find a nice cart on the back of expected leader Sugar Glider before taking over into the straight. There’s not a lot of early pressure coming from elsewhere and that tail breeze is predicted to be gaining strength late in the afternoon.
