Morphettville Tips 17/08/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 6 No. 2 EXALTED RUTH – ($3.70)
Garret Lynch’s stable is flying at the moment, and he had EXALTED RUTH giving plenty of cheek on resumption. She went out as a winner over 2050 metres at Strathalbyn back in May for David Huxtable and clearly has come back well. Settled on top of a good speed on a day when they were running on at Murray Bridge. She’s put paid to the leader early into the straight and looked strong going past the furlong. Took a couple of quality horses with cozy runs in Rapid Raiser and Take Me North to nab her on the line. Lynch seems to roll with the Gai Waterhouse motto of ensuring the fittest horse in the race. Tough on-pacers such as Exalted Ruth should slot into his stable nicely and we can look forward to more wins from her.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 6 WYNTER LADY – ($5)
Brilliant first-up winner WYNTER LADY is back from a let-up following a slower than usual recovery from Gawler at latest. All three runs this time in prior to that start were good including settling outside the leader before powering away at Naracoorte. Followed up with another strong on-speed performance when hitting the front into the straight. Hateetch gradually ran her down with that pair getting away from the rest. Should find a good run on the speed again from the perfect draw to get her prep back on track.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2 No. 7 GREY VITALITY – ($13)
The video watch of the day from Balaklava belonged firmly to GREY VITALITY. She jumped a little awkwardly on resumption before being hampered by the horse outside her. Became shuffled a long way back early and always seemed to be on heels of other runners. Went to the line completely untested as Felicity Atkinson was unable to find clear running at any stage. They’ve run good time to the day with Grey Vitality not beaten far in a high rating Class Two race. Usually takes a few runs to find his best and should be ready to peak now fourth-up.
