BEST BET 🏆
Race 8 No. 10 TAUNTING – ($3.60)
Michael Hickmott cuts the shackles off TAUNTING, and we will get to see how measures up against the open-class horses. Not easy to tell how he’s travelling in his races because he can be a bit keen in the run. Once Eaton sends him some slack Taunting then quickens while seemingly floating with his feet hardly touching the ground. Comes through a couple of benchmark 68 races this prep in where he has carried weight while recording smart times. Has had to overcome his own tardiness at the start and we don’t mind seeing him drawn out a touch. Should probably roll forward to sit outside Kemalpasa who we expect to lead in a carbon copy of last season’s Wylie.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 2 FRANCE’S BOY – ($6.50)
There’s none racing better in this field than FRANCE’S BOY who is fit and getting into his campaign. Strode to an early lead for Logan McNeil before denying Unlaced all the way up the straight over this track and distance. The pair met again over the same and this time France’s Boy had to be content in handing up to He’s Exclusive. They bowled along at a good tempo with France’s Boy gaining the upper hand late over the leader. Unlaced had peeled off their backs to put in a late lunge and got there. The naked eye had tricked us into believing Ellis Wong successfully got his mount to win again. Wong sticks and the pair should find a comfortable lead here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 9 No. 3 TWO TIMES TWICE – ($8.50)
Sheer ride of the day helped catch the eye with runner-up TWO TIMES TWICE. Sophie Logan allowed the David Jolly trained gelding to find his feet before launching a run up the middle. In shades of former Jolly apprentice Paul Gatt, Logan kept her mount balanced the entire while building momentum. Two Times Twice was coming off a fair run first-up and boasts form around handy types at his first prep. We do believe Sir Prancealot’s to show themselves to be an improving lot with maturity and Two Times Twice is not far from the winner’s stall.
