Morphettville Tips 22/10/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 No. 8 ZUFASTA – ($4.40)
We felt rather bold leading into the 3yo’s at Morphettville a couple of weeks back, believing we had the winner. How quickly we were brought to earth as Declared led without pressure to score. ZUFASTA rubbed it in further by finding cover from his wide draw to tip us out of second placing. Gordon Richards and Damian Moyle would have been happy to see him back after a promising debut as a 2yo. His recent trial behind Grey River had not commanded respect from punters that it should have. The winner of that trial has since been well-backed to score when racing first-up. The runner-up has also repeated the dose since, adding further strength to that trial. Zufasta will have striipped fitter from his recent run and Lachie Neindorf loves being positive in hunting the speed early.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 4 BOOLCUNDA KING – ($4.20)
Things are heating up again for Peter & Belinda Blanch with BOOLCUNDA KING ready to step it up this campaign. Ran first-up on the inside leaderish dominated Balaklava race track on Cup Day. Barend Vorster would have got a feel for the horse and stuck second-up at Morphettville following that tough run. Struck trouble from an inside gate as the pace dropped out of the 1531 metre affair whilst racing second-up. Boolcunda King became left as they sprinted before Vorster asked his mount to slide around the field. The pair continued to make ground as the widest before Boolcunda King had peaked late. While he stats to trip on Saturday, Boolcunda King will be looking for further in time.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5 No. 2 EXTREME THRILL – ($12)
The Wayne Francis & Glen Kent sprinter EXTREME THRILL has been racing consistently as always. He picked up a win over this trip in a Gawler metro meeting back in July when following the hot speed set by Solar Gale. Should find a similar setup here with ex-Port Lincoln mare Centrefold accepting for the race. She typically tears up the track, setting a fast tempo for those behind to chase. Kayla Crowther can give Extreme Thrill a nice smother early from the low draw before launching a run into the straight. Handles all conditions and is rock-hard fit.
