Morphettville Tips 26/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 1 HALLOWED GROUND – ($4.40)

Ballarat synthetic superstar HALLOWED GROUND joins the David Jolly camp to race here in South Australia. Typically shows terrific gate speed to burst to an early lead before kicking off that turn there at Ballarat. He finds a firm Morphettville surface to help him make that transition to turf. Hallowed Ground was ultra-impressive in winning a recent barrier trial at Strathalbyn. He recorded the fastest time of the day while coming away from One More Jack under his own steam. Kayla Crowther will look to cross this small field out of the chute with Hallowed Ground before building further into the straight.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 5 RECREANT- ($8.50)

Daryl Dodson has brought RECREANT to town this prep, seemingly to clock the miles in the horse’s maturity bank. Recreant showed more than that first-up with an encouraging placing behind Bamyan Buddha before turning in a typical stayers’ second-up syndrome performance over 1300 metres. Loved his third-up run over 1550 metres on the Parks where Kayla Crowther gave him a treat in early running. Recreant showed himself to be up to city grade when he relaxed nicely the fence. Crowther manoeuvred the big fella out to the middle of the track before being checked for a run. Landed as a good winner for us last start at Murray Bridge and can go on with it here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 5 BRAZANO – ($11)

Dion Koch unleashed BRAZANO as an impressive winner when racing on debut back in February. That was on a similar firm surface at Murray Bridge in a strong maiden over 1000 metres. He was able to settle in a forward position before clearing away from them up the big straight. Tipped out after fading over this track and trip, though not beaten far in BM68 grade. Struggled again to recapture that winning form in two runs on soft ground at Murray Bridge last prep. Koch has since readied Brazano for return with two solid jump out efforts at Strathalbyn, again in good company.
