BEST BET 🏆
Race 7 No. 1 SPANISH HEIRLOOM – ($12)
Blinkers going back on track and distance specialist SPANISH HEIRLOOM may see the mare find her best on Saturday. Showed them a clean pair of heels when putting a space on her quality rivals here first-up. Runs have been okay since on tracks that aren’t known to suit on pace runners. Current predictions have the wind at her back the entire and we’d expect current high-flying apprentice Ellis Wong to send Spanish Heirloom straight to the front.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 6 EXALTED RUTH – ($6)
We black booked EXALTED RUTH after she found plenty on resumption while racing against the pattern of the day. She went out as a winner over 2050 metres at Strathalbyn back in May for David Huxtable and has come back well. Settled on top of a good speed on a day when they were running on at Murray Bridge. She put paid to the leader early into the straight and looked strong going past the furlong. Took a couple of quality horses with cosy runs in Rapid Raiser and Take Me North to nab her on the line. Since taken on up front by the fit horse with a claim when running second here midweek. The Garret Lynch stable keeps the winners ticking over and he has booked Sophie Logan to get back into the saddle. He gets his horses hard and fit with Exalted Ruth set to find her best at her third run back.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 10 No. 1 MONTIGN – ($9.50)
Sophie Logan sticks as perennial #SABlackbookers runner MONTIGN resumes from an eight-week break. This horse has been going through the grades aided by superb placement from Murray Bridge horseman Stuart Padman. He was first-up over the six-furlongs on his home track when last in work as Logan brought him with one-run up the middle. Montign had won comfortably in good time showing his versatility as a racehorse. Jumped out nicely with some quality gallopers to be ready for this prep, and although he’ll be better over further again, Montign looks ready to run.
