BEST BET 🏆
Race 7 No. 11 PHILONIZE – ($4)
Perennial #SABlackbookers horse PHILONIZE resumes following two promising trials in town. She was away sharply as always in the first of which and controlled the front running early. Ben Price asked of her a little as Behemoth and Beau Rossa claimed her late. The former did have the benefit of race fitness under his belt too. Ran the fastest heat of a good set of trials here with her most recent hit out. Jumped straight to the front before quickening under her own steam by the 350m. Comfortably held the likes of Beau Rossa and Kemalpasa to the line. Will make short work of that barrier out of the chute to lead and looks ready to rumble.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 2 WILD IMAGINATION – ($3.20)
Love this mare WILD IMAGINATION from the Richard and Chantelle Jolly yard. She surprised us by racing very forward first-up under the big weight in a heat of the Viddora series. We have noted previously that she’s a horse who seems eager to please and likes to race on the bridle. This makes it hard to know how she’s travelling at times, and she’s also not known as an apprentice’s horse. She looked comfortable over the 1200 metres for Ellis Wong, before ranging up to hit the front inside the 75m. Her race-fit stablemate knocked her off late with the lightly raced Wild Imagination set to take benefit from the run. Alana Kelly provides the weight relief this time in a race with little early pace. She may elect to use the draw and slide up somewhere handy, or possibly even take up the front running herself.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3 No. 7 ARTY MISS – ($8)
Kayla Crowther had to be on her toes early as ARTY MISS Jumped up as the gates opened during her first trial this prep. She dug the unraced mare up from her inside gate who duly responded with enough pace to find the front inside the first furlong. Arty Miss was inclined to over race while on her own in front. Kayla gave her a typical quiet Clarken trial from there with the work done already. She jumped sharply under Ben Price for her second hit out to again find the front early. Price didn’t ask a great deal of her late as an impressive unraced Hickmott finished late. Those two ran okay time while leaving a gap back to the rest.
