Morphettville Tips 3/09/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 10 No. 1 TAUNTING – ($2.50)

Trainer Michael Hickmott continues to send his untapped runner TAUNTING through his classes following a convincing win while resuming. Taunting had been away only fairly after going up as the starter opened the gates. Jess Eaton hunted the rail to save ground before continuing her run along the inside. Taunting  continued strongly through the line with a win that was against the pattern of the day. Bound to be the popular elect to send us home as Taunting stays to class and Eaton retains the ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 2 MELODY MAN – ($3.80)

Lachlan Neindorf afforded MELODY MAN a treat of a run over this track and trip when the pair raced away to score. Melody Man had been racing second-up and still looked to be carrying a little condition. Trainer Jake Stephens has allowed him plenty of time between runs and should have come on again. There appears to be some pace back to his inside which may allow Neindorf to be positive in getting his horse across. Melody Man does also find some relief near the top of the weights as he continues to rise through the classes. Should expect him to be better over further again which will ensure he runs this race out strongly.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 4 THE BIG KAHUNA – ($6.50)

We’ve already placed a watch on THE BIG KAHUNA during a midweek review last prep which resulted in a second-up win in Mt Gambier at even-money. Clearly a horse with above average ability, The Big Kahuna was afforded ride of the day from Jeff Maund when resuming over the mile at Morphettville. Maund found a position back of midfield with cover off the wide draw and steadily worked his way into the race. The pair became held up approaching the straight as the winner kicked away. The Big Kahuna has put the big strides in late for his second placing, writing his name firmly into our black book.
