BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.5  ARTIEOS  ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)

Kembla Grange galloper ARTIEOS is second-up here and sporting a major gear change, looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Flying Artie filly resumed from a 16-week spell when she gave a good account of herself, finishing third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m on her home track. She settled outside the leader and with no cover for the race, did well on fresh legs to hang on for her podium finish. She covered that trip, 3.6 lengths slower than benchmark, a new personal best and the best last-start effort in this field. Brock Ryan rode the filly to her maiden win, here on debut and has the reins again today. The stable fit the tongue tie for the first time and in another small field, she should avoid any trouble as she maps to (again) settle on speed. Fitter for that first-up run, she should be there at finish again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  MISS OSTEND  ($2.70 with bet365)

The Norm Gardner-trained MISS OSTEND is three starts back from her last spell and should be ready to fire today. Last start, the Zoustar mare showed plenty of improvement when she finished just behind the placegetters in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m at Goulburn. She has had success here previously, winning a two-year-old Hcp. She is yet to win at the 1200m after five previous attempts but has matured and will be fitter today. After the claim, she carries 4kgs less than last start and in the small field, should enjoy a trouble-free run. She can give this a real shake today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.10  DELIGHTFUL DREAM  ($5.50 with Neds)

The Barbara Joseph Team saddle-up DELIGHTFUL DREAM here who will be hoping to break the bridesmaid tag today. Last start, the Dream Ahead gelding made it five-straight podium finishes without winning when he took home his third-straight runner-up cheque when he beat all but Akeed home in the Narooma Town Plate (1010m) on this track. After settling mid-field, he ran home strongly to finish within a length of Akeed. He ran faster sectionals than the winner that day and meets him 3.5kgs better today. He also gets the gun-run from gate one and in the smaller field here, should settle a lot closer to the speed. Already a winner here, maybe today is the day he drops the bridesmaid tag.
