Murray Bridge Tips 31/08/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 8 No. 5 THE MAGISTRATE – ($4.80)

Dom Tourneur sent THE MAGISTRATE out to chase after the tearaway leader Saint Olga on debut at Balaklava. Sam Burford’s charge made the successful chase before tracking wide at his next start in town. Resumed this time in with just-a-run over 900m here when failing to make any headway behind Magic Phantom. Ran time over this track and trip as Ben Price managed to find some cover while tracking the speed. The Magistrate chased gamely as Taunting drove through along the fence with Wotuwant and Glacius running on out wider. Lachie Overall provides some weight relief here as The Magistrate finds one to chase in Jimmy’s Edge whilst racing back in class third-up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 4 PITRAIN – ($6.50)

Sue and Jason Jaensch sent PITRAIN around over 1400 metres first-up at Balaklava. He was away only fairly before becoming crowded with Paul Gatt encouraging the horse to maintain a position with the field. They’ve ended up settling back of midfield the rail on a day the winners all raced forward in the run. Found clear air out in the middle of the track to come home hard as the winner had kicked. Stayed to trip when he won second-up at Mount Gambier when last in work and will strip fitter for the run.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 No. 12 CANIDAE – ($10)

Consistent performer CANIDAE is overdue a win on his home track. He’s yet to win without racing badly here and strikes a winnable race. Has developed a habit of being slow out of the gates which saw him settle by the tail at Balaklava two runs back. Jeff Maund angled for his run towards the fence before coming off a couple as the leaders had kicked. Canidae changed legs several times up the straight as he made his run with Pitran to finish in the placings behind Equal Balance. Moved up a grade to benchmark 60 when racing in city grade at latest. Made ground between horses before peaking prior to the 100m suited here back to seven furlongs on the bigger track.
