BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.2 DUBAI TYCOON ($5.50 with Unibet)
The Brett Cavanough-trained DUBAI TYCOON returns to Murwillumbah (where he took out the Newmarket Hcp) in the hope of going back-to-back today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding was third-up and proved too good for them in Newmarket, finishing best to grab victory on the line. He ran the last 600m, 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here. He also recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the big event. Brooke Stower is rewarded for that good ride by earning another shot with him today. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle two pairs back behind the early pace here and with a clean shot at them on straightening, he should prove hard to hold out again, currently at good odds.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.2 ONE FOR BETTY ($3.90 with BlueBet)
They’re all on trial here for a tilt at the Lismore Cup (run in two weeks’ time) and Brett Cavanough saddles-up ONE FOR BETTY who is better than her current form suggests. Last start, the All Too Hard mare couldn’t quite match it with the city-class gallopers when she finished sixth (beaten just two lengths) in a BM78 Hcp over 2200m at Doomben. She ran that journey out, 2.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by more than 5 lengths. Down in grade and class today, she hasn’t seen this track for almost four years now, but that visit resulted in her maiden win as a $1.65 favourite that day. She is a more mature galloper now and Brooke Stower is aboard for the second time. She is yet to win beyond the mile but this contest looks an ideal time to change that stat today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.4 BEEF WEEK PRINCESS ($11 with Palmerbet)
The market suggests this could be a two-horse race but the Lismore-based BEEF WEEK PRINCESS has a resume that puts her right in the mix here at double-figure odds today. Last start, the Casino Prince mare made her long-awaited return to the track after a 10-month absence and wasn’t disgraced when finishing three lengths behind the winner in a BM58 Hcp over 1310m on her home track. She hit the line nicely, running her last 600m, 5.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 3 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 800m, 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. Chris Taylor partnered her in a barrier trial before her first-up run and has the reins for this contest. Placed at the track (at her only start here, three runs back), She is already a winner when second-up and is surely worth an each-way ticket here.
