BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 : No. 1 FLYING DEPUTY ($6 with Palmerbet)
Team Edmonds head south of the border today and here they saddle-up FLYING DEPUTY who is three starts into this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding did it tough after drawing out and travelling wide most of the way, did well to finish third in a 1350m Maiden at Ipswich. He ran the trip out, 10.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the third-best here behind Stoinka and Zouhaven who have both drawn very wide today. Jag Guthmann-Chester has the job today (his first ride on the galloper) and from gate three, he maps to settle just off the pace. With a trouble-free run here, he looks the one to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 : No. 7 NOBLE CAT ($3.80 with Palmerbet)
Brisbane galloper NOBLE CAT sees the track for the first time here and sporting an impressive resume, will take beating in this contest. Last start, the Albrecht gelding came off a hat-trick of podium finishes when he found the city class gallopers a little too slick when finishing fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over the mile trip at Eagle Farm. He ran that out, 2.2 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best here only to Stuck With You who is out of form at the moment and carries plenty of weight here. Kyle Wilson-Taylor has the reins today and from an ideal draw in gate three, gets the gun-run as he maps to settle in the first half-dozen, with cover. Fitter for four race starts to date, he returns to country competition and should prove hard to beat here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 : No. 13 ROSE BY DESIGN ($10 with Unibet)
Coming in on the limit today, Beaudesert galloper ROSE BY DESIGN is one-from-one on this track and in career-best form of late, looks a genuine winning chance here at great odds. Last start, the Master Of Design mare made it two wins from her past three starts when she proved too good for a Class 3 Hcp over the 1050m trip at Toowoomba. She covered the last 600m, 2.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. She also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Thar run has her polished off for the Newmarket today and at the weights, she looks right in the mix for victory here. She is well worth an each-way ticket today.
