Local galloper GOLDEN BUTTON is in great touch of late and looks well placed here on his home track for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Dissident gelding was still in search of his first win where he missed the jump and settled at the tail, a dozen lengths off the pace. Still seeing them all, he took the turn via the cape but Zac Wadick knew what he was doing as the four-year-old gobbled them up in a heartbeat and went on to put more than three lengths on them over the line, a most impressive last-to-first performance. He ran his last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Wadick is in the saddle again and a repeat performance of that maiden win looks on the cards.

The Cody Morgan-trained CASINO LORD pays his first visit to Muswellbrook today and on top of his game at present, looks in the mix here. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding took care of an Open Class contest, crossing the line almost two lengths ahead of them over the 1000m sprint. He was in full flight that day, running his last 600m, 10 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 7 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He comes off a six-week let-up here and maps to settle a little worse than mid-field from gate six. If he keeps in touch with them, he should be finishing strongly and prove hard to hold out today.
