Naracoorte Tips 29/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 2 PEWTER – ($3)

We backed PEWTER to score at some nice odds last start courtesy of a Teagan Voorham masterclass. We felt that Pewter was the best horse in the race; however, it just looked sticky on paper with no pace involved and nothing to take her into the run. Teegan sorted it out by having Pewter a little more positive early than we are used to seeing before picking runs between horses. She probably got to the front on him earlier than intended and Pewter kept going strongly for a tradesman-like win. This is a harder race, though there will be speed courtesy of Archery Butts. Teegan will be looking to get off the fence and build into the race with momentum off the slight let-up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 4 ROSE OF SEBRING – ($7.50)

Barrier draws can shape a race and we’ll find our each-way value in the form of ROSE OF SEBRING. She left the Tony Gollan stables in Queensland and found her way to the care of Matt & Louise Cooper. They sent her around for her first look at Naracoorte off an eight-week spell three starts ago. Alana Livesey took her back from a similar barrier where Rose Of Sebring raced at the rear under some considerable constraint. Livesey cut the ribbons on the little mare prior to turning to come as the widest runner. Rose Of Sebring finished strongly over the 1100 metres in this class to just the quinella horses in Hasta La Missile and Gypsy Crown. Senior rider Harry Grace comes on board to stalk the early pressure and bring Rose Of Sebring with her run into the straight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 10 UP THE STAIRS – ($12)

We’re typically not keen to back a horse such as UP THE STAIRS at Naracoorte. He has a bad habit of wanting to lay-in during his races and the tight circular track here wouldn’t appear to suit. We see that Garrett Lynch has removed the blinkers in favour of just the one near side blinker. This could help, and so too could the undulating nature of Naracoorte which may sharpen the horse up somewhat. Senior rider Harry Grace going on is also a big positive and we believe that Up The Stairs has his rivals covered for ability. Let’s roll the dice and find out.
