BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.1  IMPACT STAR  ($2.70 with Unibet)

Race 7 – 5:15PM QUBE DANDY CUP – BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
The market suggests this could be a two-horse affair as we go with the Damien Lane-trained IMPACT STAR to get the job done today. Last start, the Star Turn gelding brought up his first win this time in when he put away a Class 2 Hcp over 1100m at Scone. In a slow-run affair, he covered the trip, 2.3 lengths slower than benchmark, which was a new personal best for him and the best in this filed by 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals. All three of his career wins have come on wet tracks so conditions today look ideal for him. At his peak after five starts this campaign, he will give this contest a real shake today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.1  KORA MAGIC  ($2.45 with Neds)

The Mudgee-based KORA MAGIC has been a bridesmaid at her past four starts and deserves a change of luck today. Last start, the Kuroshio mare was fresh off a lengthy 23-week absence when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Dubbo. That was her seventh-straight podium finish from ten career starts to date. Second-up today, she sees the Narromine track for the first time and has Angela Cooper on board here who’s 3kg claim only helps the mare’s chances. She gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be dictating terms on settling. Fitter for that first-up run, if she is allowed to control the race from up front, she may prove hard to run down today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.8  WHO’S TINNY  ($15 with Ladbrokes

Orange-based galloper WHO’S TINNY is second-up today and looks well placed here to give this a real fright at double-figure odds. Last start, the Trusting mare was fresh off a lengthy eight-month break when she finished mid-field in a BM58 Hcp over 1200m at Bathurst. Clearly in need of the run that day, she was tailed off, spotting the leaders 15 lengths at one stage, but doing her best work late, she made up plenty of ground to finish within four lengths of the winner. A proven stayer, she jumps straight up to the mile here and with both career-wins coming on wet tracks, the scene looks set for a big improvement from her today. She’ll do no early work from gate three and will just need a touch of luck in the run home as she threads her way through the field to find clean air. Currently a $15 chance, she is well worth an each-way ticket today.
