BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.6 CZAR ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)
The Team Snowden-trained CZAR has returned to the track in good touch and second-up today looks in the firing line for a victory. Last start, the Russian Revolution colt came off a lengthy 21-week break when he gave his all to finish a close-up third in a BM64 Hcp over 1100m at Hawkesbury. He covered his last 600m, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He also ran the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Tommy Berry steered him to his maiden win three starts back and returns for today’s assignment. This contest looks a little easier than last start and fitter for that run, he looks the testing material today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.13 SO DAZZLING ($3.50 with Palmerbet)
The John Sargent-trained SO DAZZLING didn’t take long to salute the judge and today is looking for back-to-back victories. Last start, the well-bred So You Think filly had just her second race-start when she took out the Oaks Trial (1800m) at Flemington. Drawn wide that day (11 of 13), she also had to contend with a Heavy 10 surface but made it look easy in the end. Damien Oliver steered her to the from inside the final 200m and she boxed-on strongly to hold them all at bay, winning by almost a length on the line. This contest looks much easier and with William Pike on board, she looks a serious contender today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.3 OUR BELLE FILLE ($6 with Neds)
The Peter Robl-trained OUR BELLE FILLE is second-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a serious contender in this contest. Last start, the Reliable Man mare was fresh off a lengthy 19-week absence when she performed well enough to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1300m. She drew wide that day (10 of 12) and took the turn well back and wide, but finished strongly to get within a head of the main prize. Keagan Latham was aboard that day and sticks with the mare here. She is a winner at the track and the stable slap the blinkers on her for the first time. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and fitter for that first-up run, she will take beating here at odds.
