BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.2 ARALE ($2.25 with Palmerbet)
The Team Snowden-trained ARALE resumes today off a lengthy 17-week break but with a recent trial under her belt, confidence is high for a strong first-up effort here. Last start, the Foxwedge mare ended her last campaign with back-to-back wins at Hawkesbury (Maiden), the a BM64 at Kembla Grange (on a Heavy 8 that day). She ran that one out in even time, the best last start effort in this field. Tom Sherry rode her to that Maiden win and is back for today’s assignment. Runner-up here over this trip four starts back, she maps to settle on speed today and should take beating in this small field.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.3 ASPEN CHASE ($5 with bet365)
The Paul Perry-trained ASPEN CHASE is second-up today and did enough when resuming to suggest he can take this contest out. Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding came off a 20-week absence and did well to walk away with third prize in a BM68 over 1000m at Gosford. Travelling three-wide for most of the trip, he hit the line hard with Aaron Bullock steering the ship that day. All three career wins have come on rain affected tracks so today’s forecast Soft 7 looks ideal for him here. Bullock sticks with him today and fitter for that first-up run, he looks right in the mix here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.16 THE CHOSEN ONE ($34 with BlueBet)
The Damien Lane-trained THE CHOSEN ONE is unwanted in the market today (currently $34) but still has a resume that warrants at least some thought as a possible podium finisher here. Last start, the Choisir gelding came off a 10-week break when he beat all but one home in a Class3 Hcp over 1200m at Gosford. With Grant Buckley aboard, he settled last on the Heavy 8 track but chased them home to finish a whisker off the main prize. The 250m home straight didn’t help him that day so the 450m run to the line here today looks a distinct advantage for him. He comes in on the limit with just 55kgs to carry and Buckley sticks with him as well. Already a winner when second-up, he is at least worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
