BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.4 LADY FREULEIN ($2.50 with Ladbrokes)
Locally-trained by Nathan Doyle, LADY FRAULEIN is third-up today and looks poised for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Panzer Division mare came off an unplaced (first-up) run on this track when she turned it all around and broke through for her Maiden win in a 1250m contest at Taree. Perfectly ridden by Koby Jennings that day, she sat on the leader’s heels and on straightening, took over and left the 12-strong field in her wake as she put more than two lengths on them across the line. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to concede a possible lead and possibly box-seat on settling. Placed when third-up last preparation, Jennings sticks with her here and should prove hard to hold out again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.3 BOSS SHELBY ($2.80 with Palmerbet)
Cessnock galloper BOSS SHELBY is three starts into this campaign and should be at his peak for this contest. Last start, the Street Boss gelding made it consecutive bridesmaid finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Gunnedah. Staring a red-hot $1.90 favourite, he ran on strongly but was unable to reel in the leader, taking home second prize again. Now three starts into this preparation, he should be ready to show his best and with Andrew Adkins aboard, looks a genuine winning chance here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.1 MIHOCEK ($4.20 with bet365)
Rosehill galloper MIHOCEK is third-up today and looks well placed here to bring up win number three in this contest. Last start, the Sooboog gelding made up a lot of ground to grab third prize in a BM64 Hcp over 1350m at Wyong. He covered the last 600m, 3.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Imatruestar who draws wide today as he sees this track for the first time. The stable have booked Tom Sherry for the ride and from gate three he maps to settle just behind the speed. Both career wins to date have come when third-up which puts the four-year-old right in the mix here today.
