ANCHOR BET ⚓

Race 1:  No.1  VELLA FOX  ($1.75 with Ladbrokes)

Canberra galloper VELLA FOX has kicked-off his career with all guns blazing and surely just bad luck with rob him of the major prize today. Last start, the Foxwedge gelding was resuming after six months in the paddock when he did well to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1010m at Moruya. Beaten just over a length that day, he ran home well and posted the fastest 800m, 600m and 200m sectionals for the race in his attempt to run down the leader. Today his has his first start with a new stable (now in the hands of Canberra trainer Gratz Vella) and already a winner when second-up, he should prove hard to beat here. Lock him into your muli-bets today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.5  LADY TABLOID  ($2.20 with Palmerbet)

Nick Olive saddles-up LADY TABLOID here who is back on country turf today and looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Press Statement mare wasn’t disgraced when she finished just behind the placegetters in a Class 2 Hwy Hcp over 1400m at Randwick. Doing it the tough, she settled three-deep (without cover), from her wide draw (gate 10) and Kathy O’Hara did well to steer the mare home to take fourth prize, beaten less than three lengths in the end. Today, she returns to country competition and Jeff Penza is back aboard, boasting four podium finishes from his four previous rides with the five-year-old. Runner-up here at her only run at the track, she can bounce back today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.4  SUMMER IN SIAM  ($4 with bet365)

The Annabel Neasham-trained SUMMER IN SIAM has won two of his three career starts to date and looks poised for another notch on the resume today. Last start, the Spieth colt finished over the top of them in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Scone. Jumping from gate 10 of 10, he settled back in the field and on straightening, Alysha Collett asked him for an effort, and he obliged, grabbing the front runner on the line for a well deserved victory. He steps-up to the mile today and has Collett sticking with him. Out of a Canny lad mare, he looks a promising type who can get the job done here today.
