Race 6 No. 3 TAVIKAT – ($4.80)
Trainer John Hyam brings TAVIKAT to Oakbank for the first time and finds a suitable race. Comes out of a strong BM64 on the Parks track where he wasn’t suited by the muddling tempo. Jason Holder was able to follow Metro Tramp on the pace early before that horse upped the ante on turning. Tavikat was left as they sprinted while also hanging badly into the straight. Jumped sharply for Ryan Hurdle with the blinkers back on over 1200 metres in a midweek race in town. He was over-run late though did also manage to run a smart time for the race himself. Hurdle retains the ride from an outside alley where he may find some cover behind the speed. Coming further back in trip suits with the strong pressure expected in front.

Race 7 No. 4 STORM VOYAGER – ($5.50)
Port Lincoln mare STORM VOYAGER can continue her recent run of good form. Came from midfield one-off the fence with a powerful run for Anna Jordjso. Storm Voyager was inclined to lay under pressure up the straight which may have cost her the race. French Rock found an economical run in transit to take the splits and hold as they hit the line. Ryan Hurdle found a similar spot at her next start, this time on the fence with cover. He found runs back towards that fence to turn the tables over French Rock with Storm Voyager dominant. Ran okay in a sharp race since and has drawn superbly here for Lachie Neindorf.

Race 1 No. 1 ALWAYS SOMETIMES – ($15)
ALWAYS SOMETIMES often races well here at Oakbank and is priced to give punters a run for their money in the first. We certainly know he’ll handle the downhill run anyway. Made to do some work through the early stages when racing back to the mile at Strathalbyn last time. He wasn’t beaten far, which is the usual for him. There are a few who may want to go forward in this, and Always Sometimes will be up there amongst those. Sairyn Fawke will be into him from the top of the straight as the pair try to hold out some of their more fancied rivals late.
