Race 3 No. 8 HE’S A LEGEND- ($2.05)

HE’S A LEGEND should be hard to beat in Race 3. The Julius Sandhu-trained galloper has had the two career starts, finishing runner-up on debut over the 1300m at Cranbourne before heading to Moonee Valley and being run down late over the 1600m by Dunkel, sticking on for 3rd. Both of those were on Heavy tracks and he might not quite get that surface on Thursday but worth noting that the son of Snitzel went nearly three lengths faster than standard benchmark last time, which is more than nine lengths better than the class average for this race. He saves ground from barrier 1 and should be hard to beat with Julius Sandhu on board.

Race 1 No. 4 CONCENTRIC- ($6.50)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for CONCENTRIC to kick off his campaign. The three-year-old from the Busuttin & Young stable has had three career starts and led when resuming at Sandown back in June over the 1400m. He was run down by the Group 1 performer, Elliptical, in that race, finishing 3rd behind and beaten just under a length. He then dropped out of it at Flemington over the 1420m, finishing four lengths away off Grinzinger Bishop. The son of I Am Invincible has been gelded since then and went 1.5 lengths slower than standard when fresh before going 0.5 lengths faster at his second run. They are better figures than what any of the raced runners have produced. Michael Dee rides and the pair have attracted early support in the betting.

Race 5 No. 8 MERLIN’S CHARM- ($12)

Best Value comes up in Race 5 and it is MERLIN’S CHARM that can go close at the each-way quote. The five-year-old has won three of seven career starts and stepped out at Sale on October 5, running on for 3rd behind the son of Black Caviar, Invincible Caviar. Second up last time she was an 11-lenght improver on benchmark figures when going from a 4th at Cranbourne to a win at Moonee Valley before winning her next two. The daughter of Toronado might look to punch up from the barrier and it would be no surprise to see her fighting out the finish.
