Pakenham Tips 19/09/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 2 No. 12 MOKO- ($2.30)
MOKO should be hard to beat in Race 2 at Pakenham. The Godolphin galloper from the Anthony & Sam Freedman stable has had five starts for three minor placings with those coming at Group and Listed level. His last start came in the Fernhill Mile (1600m) at Randwick during The Championships back in April. That form reads very well for this and in four of his five starts he has produced superior benchmark figures than any other runner in this race. Damien Thornton just needs to negotiate the wide barrier. He strikes at 25% for the stable, providing a 5% profit on turnover for punters.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 8 IMPS- ($3.60)
A few unknowns with a number of first starters in action but IMPS should be hard to beat after a debut effort that saw him finish runner-up behind Running By on the Ballarat Synthetic back on August 30. He settled handy that day and missed out by a length but put a six-length gap on the rest. The son of Impending went 0.3 lengths faster than standard that day, which is three lengths better than what any of the raced runners in this have produced. Barrier 2 and early market support are further ticks.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8 No. 4 SAVANNAHLANDER- ($5)
Race 8 is the last on the card and it is SAVANNAHLANDER that can go close after a last start effort that saw him finish runner-up on the Pakenham Synthetic on August 26. That came over the 1400m and he didn’t enjoy the clearest of runs in the early stages and in the straight. The lightly raced seven-year-old went 1.6 lengths slower than standard, which are the best last start benchmark figures of any runner. He just needs to hold that effort to take this one out.
