Coffs Harbour galloper COTTON CAPER is no stranger to this track and now well into this campaign looks well placed in this line-up for consecutive wins today. Last start, the Mossman mare broke a run of outs when she clobbered a BM50 field over 1000m on her home track. She was full of zip that day, running her last 600m, 5.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 8 lengths. She also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race which she won by more than two lengths on the line. Ideally drawn in gate two, she does no early work and has the experienced Jeff Penza on board for the first time. Plenty of boxes ticked here to make her our best each-way investment of the day.

Race 3:  No.4  CROWNED EMPRESS  ($5 with Palmerbet)

The locally-trained CROWN EMPRESS is three starts into this preparation and looks poised for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Hallowed Crown mare came off an unplaced run in the Jacaranda Prelude when she turned it all around and took out the Jacaranda Cup at Grafton. Third-up and fitter, she covered the last 600m, 5.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here, while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the big race. A two-time winner on home soil already, she will take beating in this contest.

Race 8:  No.6  IZFALLINGDOWN  ($6 with Neds)

Hawkesbury-based visitor, IZFALLINGDOWN, has improved with each start this preparation and looks set to continue the good work in this contest. Last start, the London Bridge mare brought up her second podium finish in four starts this time in when she took out a BM58 over the mile on a heavy track at Gosford. Apprentice Anna Roper was on board for the first time that day and rode the mare a treat, leading from barrier to box. Up in grade today, she carries 2kgs less for the assignment and has Roper remaining in the saddle. With plenty of early speed here, we may find her settling just behind the pace today and with a trouble-free run home, she looks a genuine contender here for the main prize.
