BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 :  No. 2  ANNULUS  ($2.70 with bet365)

Newcastle galloper ANNULUS is in great touch since resuming and is more than capable of going on with it here. Last start, the Your Song gelding finally broke through for his Maiden win when he took out the 1100m event at Scone. He ran the final 600m, 1.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. That made it five-straight podium finishes for the four-year-old. He maps to settle worse than mid-field from his wide draw but fitter for two starts this campaign, He will take beating in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 :  No.1  BYAKKO  ($3.50 with Unibet)

Coffs Harbour galloper BYAKKO comes off a first-up win here and looks the one to beat again. Last start, the Kitten’s Joy gelding was fresh off a five-month break when he broke through for his Maiden win over the mile at Grafton. He ran his last 200m, 2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He also posted the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals for the race. Jasper Franklin was aboard that day and has the reins again here. He steps up in distance here where the wide gate shouldn’t hurt his chances as he will drop back early. Both podium finishes have come on wet tracks so conditions look ideal for him today. He looms as the testing material today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 :  No. 8  PRINCE AKEEM  ($7.50 with Palmerbet)

The Todd Howlett-trained PRINCE AKEEM is in career-best form of late and at his best here, he will prove hard to beat today. Last start, the son of Polarmore did well to finish third in a BM58 Hcp over 1300m at Scone. Jumping from gate 10 (of 11) and carrying 61kgs, he ran the last 600m, 3.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 3 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Dylan Gibbons is in the saddle today as he maps to settle mid-field from gate six. Scratched from Quirindi on Tuesday, he looks better placed here and should give us a good show at odds today.
