The Keith Dryden-trained TROOPER KNUCKLE is in outstanding form this preparation and looks poised for the hat-trick today. Last start, the American-bred galloper made it back-to-back victories when he got there in time to win a BM58 Hcp, here over the 1200m trip. He ran his last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. He meets similar company today and draws well in gate three where he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover. Brendan Ward sticks with him today and with a trouble-free run, he looks the testing material again.

Race 6:  No.1  CASH REGISTER  ($3.70 with Neds)

Trained by the Barbara Joseph Team at Canberra, CASH REGISTER is yet to miss a top-two finish this preparation and dropping in grade today, looks set to keep that trend going. Last start, the Pendragon gelding left his run just a tad late when finishing second in a Class 3 Hcp over the mile at the Sapphire Coast. He settled last on the fence with Quayde Krogh in the saddle. On straightening, Krogh eased him off the fence and secured a run, only to lose his whip inside the last 200m where the horse was doing his best work, finishing within half a length of victory. He recoded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. His strong finish that day sees him climb to the 2000m trip here with Krogh retaining the ride. The big drop in grade today should see him figure in the finish.

Race 2:  No.9  SPIRITUAL GAL  ($4.80 with Unibet)

Canberra galloper SPIRITUAL GAL is in great touch this time in and here at the weights, looks a genuine chance for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Wandjina mare was second-up after changing stables where she walloped her rivals in a 900m Maiden on this track. With Billy Owen aboard, she led from barrier to box, giving nothing else a chance in the run. She ran that out, 5.4 lengths slower than benchmark, still 4 lengths quicker than her competition here. She also ran the fastest final 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. The former Adelaide mare looks set to go on with it today and with Owen sticking with her, she should take beating here.
