Race 3:  No.3  COMRADE ROSA  ($2.20 with Ladbrokes)

The John O’Shea-trained COMRADE ROSA is third-up today and with a gear change just might prove too good here. Last start, the Capitalist mare improved enough from her first-up effort to beat all but one home in a BM72 Hcp over 1300m at Rosehill. She ran that out, 3.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this field. James McDonald was aboard that day and sticks with the mare for this contest. The stable have removed the blinkers here and are replacing them with the visors. Nicely drawn in gate five and fitter for two runs back, she looks a genuine contender today.

Race 5:  No.6  SHADOW DEVIL  ($3.50 with Palmerbet)

The Mark Newnham-trained SHADOW DEVIL is in great touch this time in and he looks ready to win today. Last start, the Capitalist entire made-it back-to-back runner-up finishes when he came in half a length short of victory in a BM72 Hcp over 1200m at Warwick Farm. He ran that trip out, 3.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Tom Sherry boasts a strong record with the galloper, after steering him to both career wins to date and returns today for his sixth ride on the four-year-old. Seeing the track for the first time, he should be just about at his peak and draws well enough here to be fighting out the finish.
