ANCHOR BET ⚓
Race 2: No.2 DOUBTING EYE
Former Victorian galloper, DOUBTING EYE has set the world on fire since arriving on the Capricorn Coast and looks all but home in this contest. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt gelding destroyed his rivals in a Restricted 55 Hcp, here over 1100m. That was his third start on his new home track, and second win with Warwick Satherley in the saddle. Punters were quick grab the $2.20 on offer which soon turned into $1.65 and he led from barrier to box and put 4.5 lengths on them in the run home. He is up in grade today but this is not a strong Class 2 field and he should have little trouble going back-to-back here. He is skinny with the bagmen but looks an ideal choice as an anchor for your multiples today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.3 FAY FAYE
Local galloper, FAY FAYE loves racing here and four starts into this campaign now, should be at her peak and ready clock-up win number three on her home track. Last start, the Spill The Beans mare came off an unlucky second placed finish when she bounced back and destroyed a Class 3 field over 1100m at Mackay. Showing no signs of stress on the tight-turning track, she made it two from two at Mackay, when she led from barrier to box, putting three lengths on the 13-strong field that day. Yvette Lewis has her second ride on the four-year-old today and brings a 2kg claim with her as well. The four-year-old has some early work to do here (leaving the machine from gate 9), but should have little trouble in crossing to be on the speed. A trouble-free run today should see her hard to run down in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.4 DESERT MOON
The locally-trained DESERT MOON returns to home soil today and looks much better suited in this contest. Last start, the Graeme Green-trained gelding looked ‘all at sea’ when he took on a Class 3 (set weights) challenge over 1100m at Mackay. He was mid-field on settling but the tight-turning track and big field seem to take its toll where he finished fifth, beaten six lengths on the day. Back home today, he should find this a little easier and the step-up in trip will also add to his chances. Warwick Satherley is aboard for his second ride on the galloper, having steered him to victory previously. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to be box-seating on settling and in the small field today, he looks a real winning chance.
