BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.6  DIVINE PURPOSE  ($1.80 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Clinton Taylor, the very promising DIVINE PURPOSE lines-up here shooting for the hat-trick and with conditions to suit, looks the best of the day. Last start, the Divine Prophet filly made it back-to-back wins when she cruised to victory in a BM0-55 Hcp, here over the 1400m trip. She covered the journey, 3.8 lengths slower than benchmark, a new personal best and the best in this field. With Justin Stanley aboard, she drew wide that day (gate 10 of 11) and settled outside the leader, before taking over in the run home and crossing the line 1.5 lengths ahead of them. The stable fit a tongue tie today and Stanley sticks with her for this event. Ideally drawn in gate two, she will take a ton of beating on her home track.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  KICK ON COMMAND  ($2 with bet365)

Clinton Taylor shoots for a race-to-race double here as he saddles-up KICK ON COMMAND who is first-up and looks the goods in this contest. Last start, the Scissor Kick gelding ended his last campaign in style where he clobbered his rivals in a BM0-55 Hcp, here over 1200m. Running 1:09 for the trip, he put two lengths on them as they crossed the line that day. He then hit the paddock and returned to work last month where he won a barrier trial (on this track) with Ash Butler aboard. On fresh legs today, Butler has the reins again and from gate one, he gets all the favours and maps to settle on speed. A winner on debut, he can give them something to chase here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.4  AGE OF INNOCENCE  ($3 with Ladbrokes)

Local galloper, AGE OF INNOCENCE, has missed a top-two finish just once in her six starts this preparation and at the weights, she looks a real threat to this field today. Last start, the four-year-old mare was shooting for back-to-back wins for the third time this preparation but again came up short, beaten a head on the line by smart galloper King’s County in a Class 6, here over 1400m. She drops back to the 1300m today where she is unbeaten in three starts over the trip. Tahlia Fenlon returns for the ride today after steering the mare to her Maiden win, here on debut. After her claim, the mare carries just 52kgs for this contest 2kgs under the limit. Topweight, Mocial Chief, has won his past three-straight but has to concede 11kgs (or 25lb) to the mare today which is a big ask. We’ll run with her today.
