Leading local-trainer, Jared Wehlow, saddles-up SABOR here who is second-up and shooting for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the well-bred Lonhro gelding resumed from a lengthy 18-week break when showing no signs of fatigue, brought up his third career win (from 13 starts) by taking out a Class 3 Plate over 1100m at Mackay. With Ash Butler aboard, he overcame a bad start and pulling wide on the turn, stormed home late to secure victory near the line. Drawn nicely in gate four, he maps to settle just off the speed and meeting similar company today, looks the one they have to beat home.

Race 4: No.5 STEP THIS WAY ($4.80 with Neds)
Locally-trained by Tom Smith, STEP THIS WAY has impressed with three starts to date and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Sidestep filly made it third time lucky as she clobbered her rivals in a 1300m Maiden on this track. With Chris Whiteley aboard, she sat just behind the pace before taking over halfway home and going on to win by 1.5 lengths on the line. In the process, she posted the fastest final 400m sectional for the race. Now even fitter for three runs, she looks a strong chance of repeating her last start effort on her home track again.

Race 1: No.1 GULF OF SIDRA ($6.50 with Unibet)
Local galloper, GULF OF SIDRA is second-up today and looks well placed to go one better here. Last start, the Pierro gelding was fresh off a nine-week let-up when he beat all but one home in a 1050m maiden on this track. He came from behind to grab the lead inside the final 200m but was run down right on the line, beaten a neck. Jason Taylor has the job today and fitter for that first-up run, he should prove hard to hold out here.
