BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.1 MASTER RICH
Locally-trained by Jared Wehlow, MASTER RICH is third-up today and retuning to his home soil, looks the one to beat I this contest. Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding was second-up off a 19-week break when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Maiden at Townsville. He has been thereabouts since transferring from the Annabel Neasham camp down south, finding the podium in both starts for Wehlow. Today he has his third rider in as many starts for his new stable with Ash Butler steering the ship today. Rock-hard fit after two runs back, he will taking beating today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.2 FAY FAYE
Local trainer Kerrod Smyth saddles-up FAY FAYE here who is third-up today and looks ready to win again. Last start, the Spill The Beans mare came off a dominant first-up win here against Class 3 company when she faced a similar field where she didn’t travel well, caught wide early, and could only manage fourth place with Warwick Satherley aboard that day. Dropping sharply in grade today, apprentice Yvette Lewis is the new pilot who brings a 2kg allowance with her, giving good relief to the mare here. She is a two-time winner at the track and distance and a third-up winner as well and should prove hard to hold out here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.6 ROY’S ROAD
Local galloper, ROY’S ROAD is on a roll this time in and looks well placed here to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Sizzling mare went back-to-back when she clobbered a BM50 field, here over the mile trip. She settled mid-field early then finished best to claim first prize by two lengths on the line. She now has five-straight podium finishes on her resume. Beau Appo has been aboard for her past four starts, scoring two wins and as many minor placings. She gets the gun-run today from gate one and does no early work as she maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence. A clear run to the line today should see him storming home and challenging for the major prize here.
