BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.3  LADY LAGUNA

The Annabel Neasham-trained LADY LAGUNA hasn’t missed a podium finish in her past nine starts and that doesn’t look like changing in this contest. Last start, the Overshare mare comfortably accounted for a Three-Year-Old Open event for fillies and mares over 1300m at the Gold Coast’s Magic Millions meeting. With James McDonald aboard, she came from mid-field to cross the line one length clear of the 15-strong field, turning plenty of heads in the process. J.Mac remains the pilot here and already placed six times at Group level, she will take a ton of beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.4  MORNING SUN

Neasham & J.Mac team up here again as MORNING SUN takes his place here and second-up, looks a force to be reckoned with in this contest. Last start, the Muhaarar gelding resumed off a 33-week break and had his first start on Australian soil and the Neasham stable and didn’t disappoint, beating all but one home in a BM72 Hcp over the Warwick Farm mile. Already a winner when second-up, he steps up to the 2000m here where he is a two-time winner as J.Mac is legged aboard as the first Oz jockey to ride the five-year-old. Eight career starts for six podium finishes speaks for itself and fitter for one run back, he should be there at the finish again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1:  No.9  TREIZE

The John Sargent-trained TREIZE is the rookie of the field here with just five career-starts to her name but yet to miss a podium finish, she commands serious thought in this contest. Last start, the Kermadec mare came off a BM64 win on Randwick’s Kensington track when she beat all but one home in similar company at Gosford over the shorter 1000m sprint. Molly Bourke was aboard for both runs and sticks with the mare for tis assignment. Stepping-up to the 1350m here looks ideal for her now and although she takes on harder company here, after the claim, she carries 4.5kgs less than last start which puts her in the ball park. In top-shelf form, she can figure here.
