Race 3:  No.6  AIRMAN   ($2.30 with Unibet)

The Team Hawkes-trained AIRMAN is unbeaten after two starts and second-up here looks poised to keep that record intact. Last start, the well-bred I Am Invincible gelding resumed from a 17-week spell where his fresh legs got him home in a BM64 Hcp over 1200m at Kembla Grange. In a slowly-run affair, he finished best to grab victory on the line, running the trip, half a length slower than benchmark, second-best here behind Banju (who concedes the three-year-old weight today). He also posted the fastest final 200m sectional for the race. Zac Lloyd has the reins and claims 3kgs, bringing the galloper down to the limit here. Fitter here and with a trouble-free run today, he should handle the class rise and looks a prime contender for the major prize.

Race 4:  No.10  CAMINO REAL  ($7 with Palmerbet)

The James Cummings-trained CAMINO REAL is three starts into this preparation and with two podium finishes already to her credit, she looks well placed here to add another to the tally. Last start, the Shamardal mare dropped back in trip but still managed to grab third-prize in a BM72 Hcp over 1250m on Randwick’s Kensington track. She finished strongly that day, posting the fastest final 200m sectional and running her last 600m, 6.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 3 lengths. Sam Clipperton joins her again (after steering her to victory at Hawkesbury three starts back) and from gate two she does no early work. At her peak today, the Godolphin mare will be running on and should prove hard to hold out.

Race 7:  No.10  AWESOME WONDER  ($14 with Neds)

The John O’Shea-trained AWESOME WONDER is second-up today and sporting a major gear change, just might give this field a fright at double-figure odds. Last start, the Galileo filly resumed after an 18-week break where she wasn’t disgraced, finishing fifth in a BM68 Hcp over 1500m at Hawkesbury. She ended her last campaign with a win in a BM64 Hcp, also at Hawkesbury. Kerrin McEvoy has his first ride on the filly today who will wear the blinkers for the first time. She maps to settle mid-field and stepping-up in trip today looks ideal. With a clear run to the line, she has the opportunity to break her drought (when second-up) and be there at the finish.
