BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.4 GLORY DAZE ($2.70 with BlueBet)
The Maher & Eustace-trained GLORY DAZE is in great touch this preparation and looks a shoe-in here to bring up the hat-trick in this contest. Last start, the son of Cotai Glory came off a BM78 win at Sandown and seeing the Randwick track for the first time, franked that effort by taking out a BM88 Hcp over the 2000m trip. We sent him to the gates as our Next Best 🥈 that day and he didn’t disappoint, beating home the 14-strong field by a length on the line. He ran that out, 9.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best only to the Kris Lees-trained Almania who is yet to reach the podium in five starts at the 2400m. Glory Daze has a similar spot on his resume, however this is just his third crack at the trip and after three runs on Australian soil now, he should be nearing his peak and with the visors on for the first time, he may have enough in the tank to take this out.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9: No.2 UNCOMMON JAMES ($4.20 with Palmerbet)
A winner in two states already, the O’Dea & Hoysted-trained UNCOMMON JAMES now seeks victory in NSW and looks perfectly placed to pull it off here. Last start, the Cable Bay gelding came off an unlucky second in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes and went one better by taking out the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Sandown. From gate 13 (of 16), he crossed to settle second, giving Zoustyle four lengths at one stage and finished best to claim victory that day. He ran that out, 14.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this line-up. Damien Lane has the reins again and from a much better draw in gate four, he maps to take a sit behind Zoustyle again and we could a case of déjà vu here. He has saluted six times and finished runner-up twice from his eight career-starts and that’s form that can’t be ignored.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.10 SANSTOC ($9.50 with Ladbrokes)
Mark Newnham saddles-up SANSTOC here who is unbeaten this time in and looks a great each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Tavistock mare made it back-to-back victories when she took out a BM72 Hcp over 1400m at Warwick Farm. She ran home strongly, covering her last 600m, 5.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. This is harder, however she has regular rider Tom Sherry aboard who ridden her to all four career victories and is capable of giving this a real shake at odds.
