BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.10 SPACEWALK ($2.25 with Neds)
The James Cummings-trained SPACEWALK is second-up here and gave every indication last start that he was ready to race again. Fresh off an 18-week spell, he caught the eye with a solid effort when finishing third in a BM88 Hcp, here over 1100m. He set a new personal best that day, running that out, 9 lengths quicker than benchmark. He also posted the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. After the claim the three-year-old carries just 51.5kgs here and with the light weight, should prove hard to hold out.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3: No.2 COSMIC MINERVA ($3.50 with Ladbrokes)
The Bjorn Baker-trained COSMIC MINERVA is yet to miss a podium finish in five starts and third-up here, looks poised to continue the trend in this event. Last start, the Deep Field gelding came off a good win at Gosford when he stepped-up in grade at Rosehill and beat all but one home in a BM78 Hcp over 1350m. He covered the last 600m, 8.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here, while recording the fastest final 800m, 600m and 200m sectionals for the race as well. Down in grade here, Josh Parr takes control and ideally drawn in gate two, the four-year-old should figure again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 KIBOSH ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
The John Thompson-trained KIBOSH is second-up here and in a fairly open affair, looks the biggest improver and is capable of taking this one out. Last start, the So You Think mare was first-up after a year off the scene and fared well when she finished just behind the placegetters in a Midway BM72, here over 1200m. She ran that out, 1 length quicker than benchmark, second-best here to Byron who is five starts into his preparation. Three previous second-up runs all resulted in top-two finishes and Kerrin McEvoy sticks with her here. Fitter now, she will play a major role in the finish here.
