Race 1 No. 2 SLANE ($2.15) 

A small field of just six gallopers step out in the opener and SLANE is worth another chance after missing out at Flemington over the 2000m on January 20. The Enver Jusufovic-trained galloper didn’t quite see the trip out that day, dropping out to finish 9th. He drops back to a BenchMark 64 and was a winner in this grade prior to that at Cranbourne over the 1600m. The four-year-old is likely to settle forward and tempo looks a bit softer this time around. Luke Cartwright claims the 3kg and strikes at a healthy 36% for the stable.

Race 5 No. 10 RUBOLOGY ($3) 

This looks to be a winnable assignment for RUBOLOGY. The Peter Gelagotis-trained galloper has had the two career starts for a runner-up on debut at Wangaratta before heading to Pakenham and running 5th over the 1200m. He settled back in the run that day on a slow tempo and produced the fastest 400m-200m split before the lack of early speed counted against. Step up to the 1400m looks ideal
