Race 5 No. 9 DISTORTED MISSION – ($2.80)
Race 5 is a Maiden over the 1407m and DISTORTED MISSION can improve off a last start effort that saw him finish 3rd at Pakenham on January 19. That came over 1400m and he settled in the lead but was pestered a long way out before landing just over a length away. At her only other third up run he was a notable improver on benchmark figures when finishing runner-up at Sandown behind Michelotti. That horse went on to win at Group 2 level in the spring. The daughter of The Mission draws wide but speed inside him looks moderate and Damien Thornton might look to cross over.

Race 8 No. 6 FIELD OF ROSES – ($6.50)
Some handy performers feature at BenchMark 78 level in Race 8 and FIELD OF ROSES is worth plenty of thought at the each-way quote. The Gavin Bedggood-trained galloper was a first up winner at the track and trip at his last preparation and landed in the top two in four of his next five starts. They included some excellent and at times luckless performances. He should tuck into a nice spot from barrier 5 and will be ridden by Ben Melham.
