Sale Tips 23/10/2023
BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 11 DUSSE- ($2.60)
This looks to be a suitable assignment for DUSSE to kick of her campaign. The promising filly from the Maher/Eustace stable has had three career starts and claimed her Maiden at Geelong back in May before heading to Flemington and running 3rd behind Ghaanati over the 1100m. She stuck on well that day. The daughter of Rubick comes into this fresh and has attracted support in the early betting, while she has drawn ideally in barrier 5 with Ethan Brown to ride.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 6 MOETMAN– ($3.80)
MOETMAN can go close in the opener at Sale after a solid debut effort that saw him finish runner-up at Geelong on September 29. The Danny O’Brien-trained galloper led that day and kicked in the straight before just being run down late by Golden Vitrine. Those two put a three-length gap on the rest. The son of Snitzel went 1.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which are the best last start figures of any runner and the second best that any horse in this race has produced. With improvement to come at his second start and with Damien Oliver sticking on board, he should be hard to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9 No. 9 BLISTERING- ($6.50)
We close off with a BenchMark 70 and BLISTERING can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up to the promising daughter of Black Caviar, Invincible Caviar. She settled handy that day but couldn’t quite reel in the winner. The four-year-old out of Moe went two lengths faster than standard, which are the second best last start figures outside of Typhoon Harmony, who might need the run. Second up in the autumn he was a 12 length improver on benchmark figures when going from a Stony Creek win to a runner-up effort at Caulfield behind Adele Amour. Blinkers come off and she should enjoy a nice trail from barrier 2.
BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)
Race 7 No. 1 REGALO DI GAETANO- ($34)
With the scratching of Visinari the Sale Cup opens right up and one at the each-way quote that can feature is REGALO DI GAETANO. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper was ok behind Visinari when last at Flemington on resumption, beaten less than three lengths before running 8th behind Aegon in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield last weekend. He has been a noted improver third up at his previous campaigns and when stepping up in trip, while he does boast a handy winning strike rate of 34%. Worth thought at the odds.
