Race 3 No. 4 MY YANKEE GIRL- ($3.10)
Keen on MY YANKEE GIRL in Race 3 at Sandown. The four-year-old is compiling a solid record and created headlines at her last start when losing out on the ‘whip’ protest behind Invincible Caviar. Those two dead-heated over the 1200m at Flemington on December 17 before she was relegated. The daughter of American Pharaoh gets out to the 1400m now and produced excellent figures all through her last preparation, particularly as she progressed through her campaign and built her fitness. She is a previous winner at the track and gets the ride from Jamie Kai this time around.

Race 6 No. 9 JUST JOHNNO- ($4.40)
Liked the return of JUST JOHNNO at Pakenham last month and the Lindsey Smith-trained galloper can go one better this time around. The lightly raced six-year-old ran on well to fill the exacta behind Invincible Caviar and form out of that race has been rock solid. He went five lengths faster than standard and looks to have come back in good order. Step up to the 1300m suits and he has been supported in the early betting.

Race 8 No. 1 PESTO- ($10)
Best Value comes up in Race 8 and it is PESTO that can go close at the double figure odds. The Team Hawkes galloper jumps from the 2040m after producing the fastest late splits at Moonee Valley when a one-length 4th behind Right You Are on Christmas Eve. The son of New Approach heads into this third up and just about looks ready to peak. Form at this stage of his last preparation was excellent and he should get his chance at Sandown.
