Sandown Tips 10/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 2 MIDTOWN BOSS- ($3.90)

Some promising three-year-olds step out in Race 3 and MIDTOWN BOSS can go on with the job after picking up two wins in his two starts this time around. The Mark & Levi Kavanagh-trained galloper was impressive at Geelong a month ago before stepping up to BenchMark 64 over the 1200m at Sandown on knocking over Corner Off. Slight question marks over the form with the runner-up missing out on Wednesday but Midtown Boss should be stronger over further and went 4.6 lengths faster than standard benchmark with his recent win, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 10 RIOT AND ROSE- ($4.60)

Didn’t mind the first up run from RIOT AND ROSE at Ballarat on November 19 off what was a long break and looking for the Peter Moody-trained galloper to go close to rejoining the winners list. The five-year-old is four wins from six starts and settled handy on what was a tricky track before running 4th behind the likes Green Fly and Detonator Jack. Those two clash in an earlier race at Sandown and I expect the form to hold up. Riot And Rose has been a huge improver on benchmark figures at his last two preparations. A firmer in the early betting, Luke Nolen just needs to navigate from the wide draw.

Best Value 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 6 No. 3 SANTERO- ($8.50)

SANTERO can be an improver at her second run back from a spell. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper settled back in a BenchMark 78 at Pakenham on December 3 over the 1200m and looked to be right in contention but was badly held up at the business end before finishing 7th behind Blistering. She managed to peel off the fastest last 200m and should be suited by the step up to the 1400m, while she has an excellent record at Sandown.
