Race 4 No. 6 HARD SQUEEZE- ($3.80)
HARD SQUEEZE should be hard to beat in Race 4. The five-year-old tends to save her best for when she is third up and stepping up in trip. She has closed off well at her two starts this time in and comes off a 4th over the 1800m at the Hillside circuit on Boxing Day. At his stage of her last preparation she improved four lengths on benchmark, figures to score in dominant fashion at the track and trip, while it was an eight length improvement at her campaign prior when taking out a 2040m race at Moonee Valley. Pace looks muddling but she is versatile enough to camp on the speed, while the 2kg claim for Carleen Hefel should help at the business end.

Race 1 No. 1 RHEINBERG- ($3.80)
A field of six line up in the opener and the last start winner, RHEINBERG, can serve it up to the odds-on favourite, Nunthorpe. The four-year-old made his Australian debut on December 7 after three runs in New Zealand early last year and settled handy before finding plenty in the closing stages to nail Oceanique by more than a length. The son of Swiss Ace went two lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Improvement to come at his second start and Michael Dee sticks on board.

Race 7 No. 2 DEFINING- ($3.50)
DEFINING can go close in Race 7.Slight query with the seven weeks in between runs but she did well when fresh on Ballarat Cup day over the 1200m after botching the start when eventually running 3rd behind Hypothetical in what has turned out to be a solid form race. She was a big improver when second up at her last preparation, claiming her maiden by five lengths before winning another by five. The daughter of Not A Single Doubt draws to do no work and we can expect to see her fight out the finish.
