Sandown Tips 14/12/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 8 No. 11 VERMENTINO- ($2.90)

Impressive performance by VERMENTINO when resuming off a long break at Sandown on November 23 over the 1200m and no reason to suggest the Maher/Eustace galloper can’t handle the step up to BM70. The son of Extreme Choice sat just behind them when resuming before clearing out to win by nearly three lengths, going a very healthy 8.8 lengths faster than standard. He might be a bit untapped and can make it three career wins from as many starts.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 6 RACKERMANN- ($2)

RACKERMANN should be hard to beat in the opener. The Ben & JD Hayes-trained galloper has had the one career start for a solid effort on debut when runner-up behind Flying Temptress. The son of Impending settled worse than midfield in that race before balancing up at the top of the straight and producing the fastest last 200m to go 1.1 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any other horse in this race has produced. Step up to 1400m suits and he has attracted plenty of early support with Craig Williams to ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 5 LIBERATED GIRL- ($1.85)

Willing to take the odds on for LIBERATED GIRL in Race 4. The Peter Moody-trained galloper resumed with a 3rd over the 1400m at Sandown on November23 and was unlucky in that race without much room for a considerable amount of time in the straight. She should have improvement to come at her second run back and drops to BenchMark 64 for this.

Best Value 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 6 No. 12 MIANADO- ($13)

MIANADO shapes as an each-way player in Race 6 of the day. The Cindy Alderson-trained galloper resumed at Geelong on November 30 over the 1100m and didn’t have much room over the last 200m when 5th behind Tramontana. She should have finished much closer. Second up at her only other preparation she improved nearly six lengths on benchmark figures to score at Pakenham over the 1200m. A firmer in the early betting, she should enjoy a nice run from barrier 3 with Daniel Moor to ride.
